Blood Drive #2 at Grace

What a great day yesterday was!

There was an amazing turnout for the Red Cross Blood Drive honoring Bailey at GFC. We had 143 people sign in, and filled 104 units (bags) of blood. Unfortunately, some people had to leave b/c of the long wait (which I HATE that there was a wait---but having so many people is also a good thing of course) or were unable to give (anemia, small veins, etc), so that's why the # of bags is less than the # of people who signed in. There is another local blood drive today, so info was given about that for the people who had to leave, so hopefully some of them went there today. But 104 exceeded our goal, so that is awesome!!! We doubled the last drive---LOVE IT!
There were so many great things that happened yesterday! First, I think it was incredible that our pizza delievery guy from Dominos (Dominos provided pizza for the drive) came back to donate after work and brought a friend. Now how cool is that??? Bailey's grandpa stopped by and her Grandma was there too. "Aunt" Kate came with Bailey's pal Addison (10 weeks old) to hang out and volunteer (THANKS!). "Uncle" Joel spent the whole day volunteering---you are a tooper Joel!!! And a photographer from the Towson Times came to take pictures! So awesome! MJ and Tina Marie did an amazing job organizing the drive. There were so many wonderful volunteers that helped out and made it possible. Thank you everyone...MJ, Tina Marie, Dominos, Ritas & Chik-Fil-A (for the coupons), volunteers, donors, Red Cross workers..thank you! Thank you Grace, for letting us take over the Great Room and hallway for this successful drive. It was a long day and late night...but such an awesome turnout. For everyone who donated...you are heroes. There were so many first time donors, which is incredible. We even had a blood hound, ha ha (thanks Juliann Elmer & Wayne Young). I cannot say enough thanks to everyone! Here are some pictures from the blood drive!!! Keep an eye out for an article or pictures in the Towson Times.
